Gov’t working to end stray dog problem ‘soon’ via municipal partnerships

AMMAN — On Thursday, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Administration Tawfiq Kreishan announced the establishment of shelters for stray dogs through "partnerships between groups of three to four municipalities in all regions of the Kingdom", Khaberni reported.اضافة اعلان

During a meeting with the heads and members of several municipal councils in Irbid governorate, Kreishan spoke about "ending the problem of stray dogs soon, in coordination with administrative officials and mayors", adding that the government will address administrative officials to deal with the stray dogs in the coming days.

Previously, the minister had said that, while it is not possible to establish a shelter for stray dogs in every municipality due to financial reasons, the ministry is working in coordination with donor countries to establish a shelter for every three to four municipalities.

Designating land for straysOn Monday, Zarqa Governor Hassan Al-Jabour announced a study on allocating a 35-dunum plot of land to house stray dogs in the governorate.

The study will be subject to continuous evaluation for a period of 90 days to measure its impact, Jabour added.

All relevant parties are working together to quickly resolve the problem, the governor said.
