In a press statement, the ministry's spokesperson, Haitham Abu Al-Foul, said the extremists' incursions and behavior are a violation of the holy city's "historical and legal" status quo, international law, and represent an "unacceptable" practice that contradicts Israel's obligations as an occupying power in East Jerusalem under international law.

The diplomat also said Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, with its entire area of 144 dunums, is a place of worship for Muslims exclusively, adding that Jordan-run Jerusalem and Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department is the legal entity with the exclusive jurisdiction to manage Al-Haram Al-Sharif's affairs and regulate entry to its courtyards.
