A senior military source in the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army stated that the Eastern Military Zone successfully foiled a drug smuggling attempt early Monday morning along its frontlines and within its area of responsibility. The smuggling operation involved remotely guided balloons carrying narcotics.

The source explained that Border Guard forces, in cooperation with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, detected a group of balloons within the monitored zone. The balloons were intercepted and brought down along with their payload inside Jordanian territory.
Upon inspecting the area, it was found that the balloons were equipped with primitive remote-controlled navigation devices and were loaded with illegal narcotics. The seized materials were transferred to the relevant authorities for further investigation.
The source reaffirmed that the Jordan Armed Forces remain committed to utilizing all available resources and capabilities to prevent all forms of infiltration and smuggling, in order to preserve the security and stability of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
