Court sentences three gov’t employees for abuse of authority

AMMAN — The seventh judicial authority, which is specialized in corruption offenses, at the Amman Court of First Instance convicted three government employees of abuse of authority and sentenced them to six months imprisonment with hard labor, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.اضافة اعلان

The court decided, during a public session on Wednesday presided over by judges Ramzi Al-Azamat and Muhammad Al-Tarawneh, to convict two other employees of the crime of neglecting the duties of public office, and sentenced one of them to one month in jail, and the other to two months in jail.

Over the course of the trial, the court refused to release on bail the main accused in the case, who was in detention until the court had obtained the money that was taken, through bid forgery, which totaled more than JD1 million.

In total, 26 defendants were involved in the case, who received between them 17 separate charges.
