The Customs Department announced last Tuesday that the application of a 16% sales tax on the contents of postal parcels with a customs value not exceeding 200 dinars will begin on February 1, 2026.

The department added that the decision will become effective starting November 1, and the tax will be collected through the E-Commerce Customs Center in accordance with official procedures.

Recently, the Council of Ministers approved a zero customs duty and the application of a 16% sales tax on the contents of postal parcels valued at 200 dinars or less.

According to the government, the decision aims to support and stimulate local spending and consumption instead of foreign purchases, while ensuring fairness and creating equal opportunities for local merchants, contributing to the activation of local commercial activity and encouraging the domestic market.
