In a joint statement, the foreign ministers urged all parties, including the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), to immediately cease hostilities, allow unhindered humanitarian access to affected areas, and engage in serious peace talks in good faith. According to Reuters, the goal is to end the bloody conflict that has claimed thousands of lives and displaced millions of Sudanese both inside and outside the country.

The statement specifically issued a direct call to the Rapid Support Forces to stop actions leading to further atrocities in the city of El-Obeid.

The statement noted the ministers' support for United Nations efforts aimed at de-escalating the crisis, and called on the UN Security Council to expand the arms embargo currently imposed on the Darfur region to cover the entire territory of Sudan, preventing the flow of weapons to all parties in the conflict.

They also urged external actors to immediately stop providing any military or financial support to the warring sides, stressing that the continuation of such support would prolong the conflict and increase the suffering of the Sudanese people.

The G7 ministers pledged to strengthen accountability mechanisms for all violations committed against civilians, while reaffirming their support for Sudan's unity and territorial integrity, as well as the democratic aspirations of the Sudanese people. They emphasized that any future political process must lead to a genuine democratic transition that meets the Sudanese people's aspirations for freedom, justice, and dignity.
