The 20-year-old Mercedes driver overcame a grid penalty to fight his way to the front within fewer than 17 laps, then spent the rest of the race battling teammate and title rival George Russell for the lead. Antonelli made his decisive move on Lap 50 of 53, capitalizing on a well-timed tire change during a virtual safety car period, and crossed the finish line 3.857 seconds ahead of Russell.

Max Verstappen finished third for Red Bull, while Lando Norris edged out McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri for fourth in a tight battle through the Curva Grande.

The win marked Antonelli's seventh victory of the season and extended his championship lead over Russell to 66 points, putting him on track to potentially become the youngest world champion in Formula 1 history.
