The two teams will face off at 9pm at the King Saudi University Stadium in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

To stay in the competition, Wehdat will need to win; making up for the (1-0) loss against Iran’s Foolad and the (0-0) against Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nassr.

“My team still has a shot at qualification despite losing to the Iranian Foolad. Four matches still remain and the opportunity to qualify is still there. We will give it all we have,” Wehdat coach Abdullah Abu Zema said in a statement on the team’s official website.

“I have asked the players to look ahead and focused on boosting their morale, and ensuring that they are mentally prepared....We have addressed our weaknesses and I will work on fostering strengths in upcoming matches,” Abu Zema added.

So far, Wehdat has been missing two of its defenders, Firas Shalbaieh and Mohammad AL-Dumeiri due to injury, but according to the club’s doctor, Muayyad Omar, they are likely to be on the field in today’s match.

“Mohmmad Al-Dumeiri and Firas Shalbaieh’s medical results have come in and look promising. Al-Dumeiri is recovering while Firas Shalbaieh has suffered a harsh bruise and will go into treatment. They are expected to be among the coach’s options in the match against Al-Sadd,” Omar said.

Al-Sadd will also attempt to recover from its loss against Al-Nassr (3-1).

“Defensive errors played a part in our loss to Al-Nassr. In major matches like this one, such oversights must not occur. We still have four more matches and we need to prepare well to get back into the competition,” Qatar’s Spanish coach, Xavi Hernandez was quoted saying on the club’s official website.

Al-Nassr is leading Group (4pts.) followed by Foolad (goal difference), and Wehdat (1pt.) and Al-Sadd (1pt.) in third and fourth places respectively.

The winner in each group will play to the 16-team playoffs, joined by the three best runner ups in the West region. The final playoffs of “home” and “away” games are slated for November 21 and November 27.
