The Jordan Basketball Federation has appointed Spanish coach Luis Guil Torres as head coach of the Jordan men’s national basketball team, known as the Jordan Falcons, until the end of the sixth window of the Asian qualifiers for the FIBA Basketball World Cup.

The contract will be extended if Jordan qualifies for the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Qatar, as part of the federation’s strategy to strengthen the national team’s technical development.
Torres is scheduled to arrive in Amman on Monday evening to begin overseeing the Falcons’ training sessions.
He will be assisted by fellow Spaniard César Cámara Pérez and Jordanian coach Naif Asfour, alongside Spanish performance analyst Ignacio Rodríguez.
The appointment is part of the federation’s plan to provide the national team with the best possible technical preparation for its upcoming commitments, most notably the fourth window of the second round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2027 World Cup in Qatar, as well as the William Jones Cup and the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya.
Jordan is preparing for two important qualifying games against the Philippines and Australia on August 28 and 30 in Manila.
The matches are part of Group C, with the Falcons aiming to secure positive results and strengthen their chances of continuing their campaign to qualify for the World Cup.
Extensive Coaching Experience
The 56-year-old Torres brings extensive coaching experience and an impressive record.
He previously served as an assistant to Spanish coach Sergio Scariolo on the Spanish senior national team and also worked as an assistant coach at Real Madrid.
He has also served as head coach of Spanish Liga ACB clubs Valencia Basket and Casademont Zaragoza, in addition to gaining professional experience in Japan’s basketball league.
Torres has also coached several Spanish youth national teams, gaining extensive experience at both domestic and European levels and establishing himself as one of the notable coaching figures in European basketball.
