Harry Kane, Bayern Munich’s newly crowned Ballon d’Or winner, missed a penalty and hit the post with another shot, while Borussia Dortmund snatched a valuable late equaliser through Fabio Silva to secure a 2–2 draw in Saturday’s top-of-the-table clash. The result left both teams sharing the Bundesliga lead on 18 points each.

Kane received the Ballon d’Or in London on Monday, before being left on the bench during Bayern’s emphatic 6–1 victory over Magdeburg in the German Cup on Wednesday.
However, the English striker endured a difficult evening against Dortmund. He missed a penalty while his team were leading 1–0, then saw another effort strike the post, as four of Bayern’s attempts were denied by the woodwork.
Dortmund punished Bayern in the 89th minute when Silva scored a dramatic equaliser, keeping the battle for the top spot wide open between the two rivals.
The first half featured chances at both ends and sustained excitement. Michael Olise saw his shot come back off the woodwork, while Ismail Saibari missed a clear opportunity before being injured in the same move. Dortmund also had a goal ruled out following a VAR review.
Despite losing Serge Gnabry and Olise to injuries, Bayern took the lead in the 38th minute through Konrad Laimer, who followed up after goalkeeper Gregor Kobel saved his initial attempt.
With coach Vincent Kompany absent as he continued recovering at home from an illness he suffered last week, Laimer appeared to be Bayern’s most dangerous attacking player. Kane, meanwhile, lacked his usual accuracy and missed a penalty that struck the crossbar in the 56th minute.
Rather than extending Bayern’s lead, Dortmund equalised through Serhou Guirassy in the 60th minute. But the hosts responded just six minutes later, when defender Dayot Upamecano restored their advantage with the help of an assist from Kane.
Bayern tried to seal the victory, but their luck ran out again as another Kane effort struck the post before Silva grabbed the equaliser in the closing minutes. In stoppage time, Lennart Karl saw his attempt rebound off the crossbar, capping a frustrating evening of missed chances and bad luck for the defending champions.
