“I would like to congratulate the Qatari Al-Sadd on their win. I think that a lack of focus in the first 10 minutes cost us the whole game. We sustained two corner-kick goals but I would like to commend my team for the bravery in the second half after a series of switches, where they took control of the ball and scored as we got closer to tieing,” Abu Zema said in a press conference following Tuesday’s match.

He added: Al-Sadd had the advantage in the first half but we were doing well and we got close to amending the score in the second half. We have to admit to Al-Sadd’s strength, yet, we still managed to keep up with them and we hope to perform better in our next face-off.”

The coach concluded: “Rotating players is important to allow us to play six matches in such short time. I have a lot of players on my team who can hit the field at any time, which will helps us look good in three remaining matches.”

Meanwhile, Al-Sadd’s coach, Xavi Hernandez voiced his satisfaction with his team’s performance saying at the press conference: “We are happy with the three points and our performance in the first half......In the second half we could not play how we wanted, where we sustained a goal and were often at risk of sustaining (more goals). We cannot keep playing like this going forward.”
