The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply has issued 1,500 violations against businesses for failing to comply with the provisions of the Industry and Trade Law and related regulations since the beginning of the year.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the ministry said that the Market Monitoring Directorate handled 650 complaints submitted by citizens through market inspectors deployed across all regions, with the necessary measures taken to address them, reflecting rapid response and effective oversight.
The ministry added that inspection teams carried out 1,895 inspection campaigns, including 30,871 visits to commercial establishments across various governorates in Jordan, to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and instructions.
During April alone, the ministry issued 345 violations, including:
* 284 violations for failure to display prices
* 29 violations for exceeding approved prices
These violations followed 441 inspection tours that included visits to 7,336 commercial establishments. The directorate also handled 228 complaints from citizens and took the necessary actions to maintain market stability.
The ministry noted that the Market Monitoring Directorate continues implementing the provisions of the Industry and Trade Law No. 18 of 1998, which includes:
* Monitoring the availability of essential food commodities
* Ensuring prices are clearly displayed and adhered to
* Tracking wholesale inventory levels
* Preventing practices such as hoarding or refusal to sell goods
* Monitoring discounts, clearance sales, and promotional offers
The ministry affirmed that inspection campaigns will continue to ensure market stability and consumer protection. Citizens were encouraged to submit complaints and observations through official communication channels and designated contact numbers.
