The Syndicate of Customs Clearance and Freight Transport Companies revealed that firms operating across Jordan’s customs and border centers processed and completed procedures for 310,567 customs declarations during the first four months of the current year.
According to the syndicate’s statistical data, 65,999 declarations were processed through the Omari Customs Center, which connects Jordan with Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states, while 62,393 declarations were handled at the Aqaba Customs Center.
The data also showed that customs clearance companies operating at the Jaber Customs Center, which links Jordan with Syria, processed 20,551 declarations, while 5,132 declarations were processed through the Karameh (Ruwaished) Customs Center, which connects Jordan with Iraq.
Meanwhile, 52,303 declarations were processed through the Airport Clearance Customs Center in Zizia, 29,347 declarations through Amman Customs, and 13,743 declarations through the e-commerce customs center.
The total cargo handling volume at Aqaba’s Main Port during the first four months of the year reached nearly 4 million tons, compared with 3.189 million tons during the same period in 2025, with 566 vessels handled.
Statistical data also showed that the number of inbound containers handled by the Aqaba Container Terminal increased by 10,691 containers, reaching 159,852 containers, compared with 149,161 containers during the same period last year.
The number of vessels arriving at the Aqaba Container Terminal during the same period reached 205, up from 198 in the corresponding period of 2025.
Overall import and export handling at the container terminal increased by 56,467 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), reaching 316,010 TEUs, compared with 259,543 TEUs during the same period last year.
Regarding truck classifications in Jordan, the data showed 19,432 tractor heads, 25,657 semi-trailers, and 12,448 freight vehicles.
The number of trucks crossing the Jaber Customs Center in both directions (entry and exit) during the first four months of the year reached 157,729 Jordanian and foreign trucks, compared with 139,299 trucks during the same period in 2025.
Truck movement through the Omari Customs Center reached 139,016 trucks, compared with 85,751 during the same period last year, while traffic through Karameh increased by 14,352 trucks, reaching 72,411, compared with 58,059 in the corresponding period of 2025.
Dhifallah Abu Aqouleh, head of the syndicate, described the activity of Jordanian and foreign trucks entering and leaving the Kingdom as significant given Jordan’s strategic location, noting that it reflects a shift in transport routes from maritime to land transport, strengthening Jordan’s position in regional supply chains.
He praised the efforts and facilitation provided by Jordan Customs and various security agencies in accelerating procedures at customs and border centers, whether for goods entering the local market or transit shipments.
Abu Aqouleh also commended recent government measures and exemptions related to trucks aimed at accelerating the fleet renewal program for tractor heads, which includes 21,194 trucks over 20 years old, saying the decision would modernize the fleet without additional fees and reduce costs.
Founded in 1982, the Syndicate of Customs Clearance and Freight Transport Companies serves the sector, addresses industry challenges, and works to enhance professional standards and workforce efficiency.
Jordan currently has 467 licensed customs clearance companies operating approximately 2,000 branches across customs and border centers, providing nearly 10,000 jobs for Jordanians.
