During the launch ceremony, attended by representatives of financial and banking institutions, Dr. Al-Sharkas stated that the financial sector has witnessed a qualitative shift in recent years along the path of digital transformation. Electronic banking services, digital wallets, and mobile payments have become an essential part of daily life, while the sector has also expanded in financial technology (FinTech), innovations, and artificial intelligence applications, opening up promising investment opportunities. However, with these advancements, new risks have emerged, such as cyber fraud, phishing, and ransomware attacks—making awareness a necessity to safeguard everyone.

Dr. Al-Sharkas emphasized that this campaign is not merely a media initiative but a firm commitment from the Central Bank of Jordan to raise awareness about the importance of secure and safe digital banking transactions, thereby strengthening confidence in the financial and banking sector.

The campaign aims to empower citizens to identify the most common methods of online financial fraud and ways to combat them, such as fake messages and phishing links. It will also stress the fundamental principle that financial institutions never ask customers to disclose their confidential information via phone or email. The campaign targets all segments of society and will disseminate content through social media platforms and news outlets, in addition to organizing events and awareness drives across the Kingdom.

In conclusion, Dr. Al-Sharkas underscored the need for collective efforts to enhance cybersecurity awareness among institutions and individuals in the financial sector, reiterating that awareness is the first line of defense for Jordan’s economy and the security of its cyberspace.
