The Financial Times reported on Tuesday that the United States is considering the possibility of deploying nuclear weapons to additional European NATO member states.

The newspaper indicated that U.S. officials have expressed readiness for additional deployments beyond the scope of the six current nations that host nuclear-capable bombers.
The report explained that this move would involve more countries hosting U.S. "dual-capable aircraft" (DCA) that are capable of launching nuclear strikes. At the same time, it emphasized that an agreement to expand the hosting of U.S. nuclear weapons is not imminent.
According to the report, countries on NATO's eastern flank, including Poland and some Baltic states, have expressed interest in potentially hosting bases for these aircraft. It further clarified that these discussions are being conducted through NATO channels.
Reuters was not immediately able to independently verify the report. The White House, the Department of Defense, and NATO did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
U.S. President Donald Trump and many of his aides have frequently criticized European allies for not spending enough on their militaries and for relying on the United States for conventional defense.
