Eleven people have died as a result of the severe tropical storm “Bualoi” that hit the Philippines, authorities reported on Saturday.
The Philippine News Agency stated that the storm struck small islands in central Philippines on Friday, causing fallen trees, toppled electric poles, torn-off roofs, and widespread flooding, forcing around 400,000 people to evacuate their homes.

Noel Longay, an official from the local disaster authority, said that the small island of Biliran was among the hardest hit areas, with eight people killed and two still missing. Flooding remains widespread across the island, and some roads were still submerged as of Saturday morning.
Earlier, the Civil Defense Office in the capital, Manila, confirmed three more deaths on the islands of Masbate and Ticao, including two people killed by a falling tree and wall due to strong winds.
“Tropical Storm Bualoi” follows the powerful Typhoon Rajas that recently struck northern Philippines, claiming 14 lives. The storm is expected to move off the central coast of Vietnam by Sunday afternoon.
The Philippines experiences an average of about 20 storms and typhoons each year, leaving millions in disaster-prone areas vulnerable. Scientists warn that storms are becoming more severe due to rising global temperatures caused by climate change.
