Biden: America is Experiencing “Dark Days,” but We Are Stronger Than Any Dictator

Biden, 82, stated: “Since its founding, America has been a beacon for the strongest idea in the history of governance. This idea is stronger than any army. And we are stronger than any dictator.”

These remarks were made during Biden’s first public appearance after undergoing radiation treatment for an aggressive form of prostate cancer, at an event in Boston on Sunday evening, where he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Edward M. Kennedy Institute.

Key Points from Biden’s Speech:

He emphasized that America relies on a limited presidency, an effective Congress, and an independent judiciary.

Biden criticized the Trump administration for exploiting a government shutdown—the second-longest in U.S. history—to assert new control over government operations.

He acknowledged the severity of the current situation: “Friends, I cannot sugarcoat reality. These are dark days.”

Biden expressed confidence in America’s resilience: “The country will find its true compass again and rise as it always has—stronger, wiser, more resilient, and more just, as long as we maintain our faith.”

He described U.S. history as a continuous struggle between danger and potential, over the past 250 years.

He concluded by encouraging Americans to persevere: “Rise again.”

Biden left office in January, after one term, ending his reelection bid amid pressure following a disastrous debate against Trump, with concerns over his age, health, and mental acuity. Subsequently, Vice President Kamala Harris launched her own campaign but lost to Trump in November.
