Andrew Miller, the deputy assistant secretary for Palestinian and Israeli affairs, stated that urgent measures and steps should be taken to contain the escalation of violence and reduce tensions in the West Bank. In June, Turmus Ayya and several neighboring towns were subjected to an attack carried out by hundreds of settlers, resulting in the killing of a Palestinian youth and the injury of 12 others by gunfire, in addition to the burning and destruction of dozens of homes and cars. This was part of a series of attacks carried out by settlers in Palestinian villages and towns that led to the burning and destruction of dozens of cars and houses.

During a visit to the town of Turmus Ayya, on Wednesday, Miller expressed the US’ concern about the increasing attacks by settlers on Palestinian civilians in the West Bank. He further stated, in a statement to Al-Jazeera, that he looks forward to the Israeli government holding accountable those who committed acts of violence in Turmus Ayya, where settlers burned several homes and cars of residents in June.
