This came according to statements by Brigadier General Ahmad Al-Dalati, head of internal security in Rural Damascus Governorate, as reported on the ministry’s official Telegram channel.
Al-Dalati said that specialized units, in cooperation with the General Intelligence Directorate, “managed, after close monitoring and intensive fieldwork, to arrest a Hezbollah-affiliated cell that was active in the towns of Sa’sa’ and Kanaker in western Rural Damascus.”
He added: “Preliminary investigations showed that the members of the cell (number not disclosed) had received training in camps inside Lebanese territory, and were planning to carry out operations inside Syria that would threaten the security and stability of citizens.”
He explained that “during the operation, rocket launchers, 19 Grad rockets, anti-tank missiles, individual weapons, and large quantities of various ammunition were seized.”
The Syrian security official noted that “the case has been referred to the competent authorities to pursue legal action, while the relevant agencies continue interrogations with the detainees to uncover all connections and objectives.”
As of 9:50 GMT, no immediate comment had been issued by Lebanon’s “Hezbollah” or by the official authorities in Beirut regarding the Syrian statement.
