Sweden to resume aid to UNRWA with initial sum of $20M

STOCKHOLM – On Saturday, Sweden stated that it will be resuming aid to UNRWA with an initial sum of $20 million after receiving assurances of extra checks on its spending and personnel, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.اضافة اعلان

Sweden was among the countries that suspended aid to UNRWA after Israel accused about 12 of its employees of involvement in Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on October 7, 2023.

UNRWA has agreed to allow controls, independent audits, strengthen internal supervision, and implement extra controls on personnel to unblock the aid. Canada has also resumed its funding to UNRWA, emphasizing the need to respond to the urgent needs of Palestinian civilians while taking the allegations against some UNRWA staff seriously.
