Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid said Saturday that U.S. President Donald Trump is “right” in stating there is an unprecedented opportunity to reach an agreement that would ensure the release of hostages and an end to the war in Gaza.

In press remarks, Lapid stressed that Israel “must immediately announce its participation in the discussions led by Trump to finalize the details of the deal,” warning that any delay risks losing this historic opportunity.
Lapid revealed that he had informed the U.S. administration that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “enjoys broad political support to move forward with the deal,” adding that the national priority is to end the suffering of Israeli families and secure the swift return of the hostages.
His remarks come as U.S.-led negotiations, with the participation of regional parties, continue in an effort to reach an agreement that would halt the fighting in Gaza, enable a prisoner exchange, and establish new security arrangements. –Agencies
