Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said on Tuesday that there would be no new deployment lines inside the Gaza Strip before Hamas is eliminated and disarmed.

In remarks to the press, Katz said Israel would take extensive military action in the Gaza Strip if an Israeli soldier or civilian were taken hostage, according to Israeli media reports. He said Israel had intelligence indicating various intentions and warned Palestinian factions and their supporters.
“If even one Israeli soldier or civilian is abducted, the entire city of Gaza, including its one million residents, will be evacuated southward,” Katz said, adding that it would be handled in the same manner as Rafah, Beit Hanoun and areas covering 70% of Gaza, until the territory is regained.
Katz also said Israeli forces would remain deployed in what he described as “security zones” in Gaza, Lebanon and Syria, stressing that Israel’s military presence in those areas would continue.
Regarding Iran, Katz said Israel would launch another attack on Iran if necessary, adding that Israel would strike Iran for a third time “until the regime falls.”
