The Israel Defense Forces announced on Tuesday that it has begun carrying out a “large-scale wave of strikes” on the Iranian capital, Tehran, in addition to targeting sites belonging to Hezbollah in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
In a statement posted on the Telegram app, the military said: “The Israel Defense Forces have begun a wide-scale wave of strikes against the infrastructure of the Iranian regime across Tehran.”
It added that it had also launched “an additional wave of strikes targeting Hezbollah’s infrastructure in Beirut.”
Israel and the United States have been conducting airstrikes on Iran since Saturday, February 28, which resulted in the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Since then, Tehran has responded by launching missiles and drones at Israel and countries across the region.
