Agence France-Presse reported that the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement has announced its support for Hamas’s decision to engage in negotiations over the implementation mechanism of the proposed ceasefire, while calling for “guarantees” to turn the temporary truce into a permanent ceasefire.

In an official statement, Islamic Jihad said it had “submitted detailed observations to Hamas regarding the implementation mechanism of the proposal.” The movement also emphasized the need for “additional international guarantees to ensure that the Israeli occupation does not resume its aggression after the prisoner release clause is carried out.”
Hamas had earlier announced the completion of its internal consultations and discussions with Palestinian factions and political forces regarding the latest ceasefire proposal submitted by mediators.
In a statement issued Friday evening, Hamas confirmed that it had submitted its response to the mediators, describing it as positive, and expressed its readiness to immediately enter serious negotiations on implementing the framework.
