GAZA – On Sunday, a French parliamentary delegation, led by left-wing MP Éric Coquerel, demanded an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, Amad Media reported.اضافة اعلان

In a press conference in front of the Rafah Border Crossing, the delegation stated that the events of October 7 cannot justify the killing of over 27,000 Palestinians in Gaza, the majority of whom were women and children, and nearly 400 others in the West Bank.

The French delegation emphasized that it is the first foreign parliamentary delegation to visit Rafah in close proximity to Gaza’s residents. Coquerel stressed the need to silence weapons, release Israeli captives, and free Palestinian prisoners, starting with administrative detainees.

Coquerel stated that a lasting truce is a necessary condition for launching negotiations, which must entail the immediate removal of Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) and the lifting of the siege imposed on Palestinian territory. They also demanded a halt to settlement construction in the West Bank and the seizure of properties in East Jerusalem.

Multiple UN resolutions have reiterated the need to conduct these negotiations in accordance with international law and recognize Palestinian rights. Peace is critical for both the Palestinian and Israeli populations, as well as all of the peoples in the region. The French delegation expressed solidarity with all civilian populations and spoke with humanitarian organizations dedicated to assisting refugees and the injured. They also expressed their support for UNRWA and its critical humanitarian role.
