Candice Ardell, spokesperson for the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), said the security situation in southern Lebanon remains extremely fragile, with violations continuing.

In remarks to Al Qahera News, Ardell said shelling, the destruction of homes and villages, and casualties among peacekeeping forces have created an extremely difficult situation, prompting many residents to leave their homes in search of safety.
She explained that UNIFIL continues to carry out its core role of monitoring and assessment, while maintaining ongoing communication with the Lebanese and Israeli armies to prevent misunderstandings or further escalation.
UNIFIL also continues to brief the international community and the UN Security Council on developments on the ground.
Ardell reaffirmed UNIFIL’s commitment to supporting residents who remain in southern villages by providing food and humanitarian assistance and supporting local communities despite the serious challenges surrounding the peacekeeping mission in the area.
