The Palestinian Presidency welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran, praising the efforts made to de-escalate tensions and calling for the ceasefire to also include the Gaza Strip.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Presidency said that reaching a ceasefire is a significant step toward achieving security and stability in the region through diplomacy and conflict resolution in accordance with international legitimacy and international law.
"We call for this step to be completed by establishing a ceasefire that includes the Gaza Strip, in order to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people and halt the killing and starvation operations," the statement added. "Only by resolving the Palestinian issue in line with international legitimacy can lasting, genuine, and stable peace be achieved."
