The Israeli occupation launched an airstrike on Beirut’s southern suburb at midday today.
A joint statement issued by Israeli Occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated, "The Israeli army launched an attack on Hezbollah targets in the southern suburb."
The statement added, "Israel will not tolerate firing directed at its territory."
For its part, the Israeli occupation army stated, "We carried out a precise strike against Hezbollah infrastructure in the southern suburb."
The occupation army added, "The strike in the southern suburb comes after Hezbollah launched aerial targets toward Israel."
It further noted that "the raid targeted a Hezbollah liaison officer inside the southern suburb," though there was no immediate confirmation from Hezbollah or Lebanese authorities regarding the identity of the targeted individual.
The occupation army continued, "We will continue to act to eliminate any threat to Israel and our soldiers in accordance with the directives of the political leadership."
Iran had recently warned that it would launch "more painful" attacks against "Israel" if the latter continued to carry out strikes against southern Lebanon and the southern suburb of Beirut.
