Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and French President Emmanuel Macron discussed on Thursday in Paris efforts to end Israeli attacks, amid Lebanese-American-Israeli negotiations and the framework agreement.

Ahead of the opening of a preparatory meeting for a conference to support the Lebanese Army and security forces under the Aqaba Process, Aoun thanked Macron for France’s support for Lebanon, his personal follow-up of the country’s situation, and his efforts to strengthen the authority and sovereignty of the Lebanese state and support its official, security and military institutions.
The two presidents agreed to maintain communication and strengthen cooperation across various fields, particularly the economy and energy, including efforts to resume oil and gas exploration in Lebanon’s offshore blocks.
Aoun also praised an initiative launched by Macron and the Italian prime minister for the period following the end of the mandate of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
Jordan’s King Abdullah II also arrived in Paris on Thursday to attend the Aqaba Process meetings focused on ways to support the Lebanese Army.
The King, Macron and Aoun are chairing a new round of the Aqaba Process meetings in Paris to discuss support for the Lebanese Army.
