In a major milestone for Google, CEO Sundar Pichai announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the Gemini app has become one of the company's fastest-growing products, recently surpassing 1 billion monthly active users.

Pichai noted that Gemini has now become Google's 14th product to reach the one-billion-user milestone.
With this rapid expansion, Gemini continues to close the gap on OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which similarly reached 1 billion monthly active users last June.
In recent months, Google has significantly expanded the integration of Gemini across its product ecosystem—from Google Search and Workspace to Android and the standalone app.
While the "AI Mode" within Google Search had previously surpassed 1 billion monthly active users globally, the newly announced figure pertains exclusively to the standalone Gemini app and does not include users accessing Google's AI tools through other integrated channels.
Google has also continued rolling out new models and features, including Gemini 3.5 Flash, which the company says is optimized for coding tasks and powering autonomous AI agents.
In addition, Google disclosed new metrics regarding user engagement, revealing that 63% of Gemini app users interact directly with the assistant via voice mode. According to the company, Gemini now generates over 150 million images daily.
The app's growth extends beyond Google's native platforms, with the company confirming that Gemini now boasts more than 100 million active users on iOS.
This achievement comes shortly after Google's Q2 2026 earnings report, where the company disclosed that Gemini had reached 950 million monthly users, with daily active users tripling over the past year.
The announcement arrives just ahead of the annual Made by Google event, where the tech giant is expected to unveil additional Gemini-powered features for its Pixel hardware lineup.
