Irbid Governorate has seen heavy rainfall over the past two days, amid autumn conditions that have renewed hope among farmers at the start of the rainy season. Farmland and plains across the governorate have been waiting for it, and the rain signals the start of the olive harvest, after farmers waited for the fruit to ripen and for weather conditions suitable for picking.اضافة اعلان

The rain has refreshed the city and its surrounding areas, cooling the air and washing the streets. Farmers have welcomed the downpours as an important start to the agricultural season, particularly for field crops such as wheat and barley.

Farmers are relying on rainfall continuing in the coming period, and distributed well across the season, to replenish moisture in the soil, prepare the land for planting, boost groundwater reserves and improve pasture conditions.

November rains are especially important in Irbid, one of the Kingdom's leading agricultural areas. The livelihoods of many farmers, and the success of their harvests, depend on regular rainfall and its distribution through the winter months.

Some farmers believe rain at this time creates suitable conditions for starting the picking work, while stressing the need to choose the right time according to how ripe the fruit is and the weather, in order to preserve the quality of the oil and the quantity produced.

During the season, olive presses are seeing growing activity as the crop begins to arrive from across the governorate. Hopes are high that the season will be a good one in terms of both the quantity produced and the quality of the oil, and that the rainfall will benefit the trees and the coming agricultural seasons.
