According to Alan, the marketing activity has been notably slow in anticipation of the holiday, with the primary factor being attributed to weak purchasing power among consumers, Addustour reported.

He emphasized that while most holiday-related goods are readily available in the market, the garment sector is currently grappling with a chaotic situation. A lack of decisions regarding postal parcels and the organization of informal markets in Amman, Hussein, Zarqa, Aqaba, and other cities has exacerbated the challenges.

Alan further highlighted the sector's burdening tax rates as a major concern affecting its profitability. The high tax burdens have posed additional obstacles for businesses operating within the garment, footwear, and fabrics industry.

The need for an upturn in purchasing activity
Meanwhile, as Eid al-Adha coincides with the summer season, the onset of the wedding season, and school holidays, Alan anticipated that clothing and sacrificial animal prices would remain within the usual levels. However, he emphasized the need for an upturn in purchasing activity to alleviate the current sluggishness and support the sector's growth.

The garment, footwear, and fabrics sector hold significant economic importance in the country, with approximately 11,000 establishments spread across the Kingdom.

These establishments employ a workforce of 63,000 individuals, the majority of whom are Jordanian. Furthermore, the local market is home to 180 clothing and footwear brands that actively operate and invest in the industry.

With the hopes of a market revival, traders and industry stakeholders are closely monitoring developments, eagerly anticipating a boost in consumer spending as the holiday approaches.
