AMMAN — The Jordan Strategy Forum (JSF) recommended on Tuesday “accelerating”
the digitalization process in public sector, in order for it to become a
leading example for the private sector, according Al-Mamlaka TV.
The
recommendation followed the forum’s release of a report entitled “Readiness for
Frontier Technologies Index 2021”, which reviewed Jordan’s performance in the UN Conference on Development and Trade (UNCTAD) through the index issued by the
conference, as well as submit recommendations to keep pace with and optimize
progress.
In
its report, the JSF offered some practical solutions to enhance national policy
and strengthen the country’s technological infrastructure to make it more
appealing to foreign tech investors. Furthermore, it identified the need for
universities to further develop students’ critical thinking, analysis, and
problem-solving skills, as these are key elements that influence the
attractiveness of an innovation environment.
The
JSF referred to the UNCTAD report, which is considered to be an effective tool
in guiding public policy and strategy for the adoption of leading technology.
The
UN report covers 158 countries around the world, and included a country’s
readiness in adopting leading technology, with the aim to measure the country’s
ability to apply and adopt such leading technology.
Jordan
ranked 46th on the index globally and 7th in the Middle
East, scoring 0.5 out of 1.
