Jordan Petroleum Refinery: No Shortage in Domestic Gas; Fuel Reserves Sufficient for Two Months
The Director General of the Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company (JPRC), Hassan Al-Hayari, confirmed that the Kingdom is not facing any shortage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) or petroleum derivatives, despite regional challenges. He emphasized the stability of supplies and the availability of a secure strategic reserve that covers the local market's needs.اضافة اعلان

Speaking to Public Security Radio, Al-Hayari explained that the demand for gas cylinders saw a significant increase, with quantities rising by approximately 1.7 million cylinders in March compared to the same period in 2025. Additionally, an increase of nearly 700,000 cylinders was recorded in January 2026 compared to the previous year.

He noted that Jordan follows a clear energy strategy based on enhancing storage capacities and ensuring supply continuity. Al-Hayari stated that current fuel reserves are at a comfortable level, with LPG stocks sufficient for two months, aligning with international standards.

Supply Chains and Production
Al-Hayari clarified that a portion of the domestic gas requirement is produced locally through crude oil refining at the Jordan Petroleum Refinery, while the remainder is imported from Saudi Aramco via the Port of Yanbu on the Red Sea. He stressed that supply chains remained unaffected during the war, as imports do not rely on the Strait of Hormuz.

He added that the monthly gas import rate ranges between 4 and 6 shipments depending on demand, noting the recent arrival of a vessel at the Port of Aqaba carrying approximately 12,000 tons.

Storage Capacities (Breakdown)
JPRC Storage: 28,000 tons of gas (distributed between Zarqa and Aqaba) and 312,000 tons of various petroleum derivatives (Gasoline 90, 95, Diesel, and Kerosene).

Jordan Logistics (JOTC) Storage:

Gasoline 90: 135,000 tons

Diesel (Solar): 160,000 tons

Gasoline 95: 40,000 tons

Kerosene: 24,000 tons

LPG (Domestic Gas): 21,000 tons

Strategic Stability
Al-Hayari highlighted that the Kingdom recorded no shortages during the winter season, and the government did not need to tap into the National Strategic Reserve. Crude oil imports from Saudi Arabia continue with a monthly shipment of 1 million barrels, with two shipments imported last March to further bolster reserves.

He concluded by reassuring the public that the situation is completely stable and urged citizens not to pay attention to rumors, affirming that all supplies are proceeding according to schedule without interruption.
