WB reiterates support of Jordan’s reforms in water and energy sectors

AMMAN — Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Naser Shraideh is participating in the World Bank Group Spring Meetings 2022, in Washington DC, representing Jordan, according to Al-Ghad News. اضافة اعلان

Shraideh met with World Bank Managing Director for Development Policy and Partnerships Mari Pangestu, who stressed the importance of Jordanian reforms in the water and energy sectors.

Pangestu wrote on Twitter: “Good to meet Minister Nasser Shraideh @MoPIC_Jordan & encouraged by Jordan’s commitment to reforms on energy & water. We agreed on the need to respond urgently to the food and energy price crisis, keeping sight of medium & long term development goals including digitalization for inclusive growth & jobs.”

Shraideh and the World Bank Managing Director of Operations Axel van Trotsenburg discussed mutual interest, in addition to economic and financial developments and reforms conducted by the Jordanian government to overcome current economic and financial challenges, according to Al-Mamlaka TV.

Both sides held talks about supporting and enhancing bilateral ties with the World Bank in a way that helps the Kingdom achieve development projects that are a priority.

Shraideh earlier stated that a project about enhancing the stock food security is being discussed, adding “the negotiations about it have just started.”
