Airport International Group, the Jordanian operator of Queen Alia International Airport, announced the airport’s traffic statistics for September 2026, showing a slight increase in passenger numbers compared with September 2025, alongside declines in aircraft movements and air cargo volumes over the same period last year. The figures reflect varying trends in passenger, aircraft and cargo activity as the third quarter of the year came to a close.

In September 2026, Queen Alia International Airport handled 847,444 passengers, marking an 18.6% decline compared with August 2026, but a slight 1.5% increase compared with September 2025.
The airport recorded 6,952 aircraft movements, down 11.6% from August 2026 and 0.2% from September 2025. Meanwhile, the airport handled 6,964 tonnes of air cargo during the month, representing a 12.1% decrease from August 2026 and a 3.8% decline compared with the same month last year.
The September results point to a slowdown in overall airport activity following the higher traffic levels recorded in August. While passenger traffic remained slightly above the level recorded in September 2025, the decline in aircraft movements and air cargo volumes indicates reduced activity in those areas.
Amid these changes, Queen Alia International Airport continues to adapt to evolving traffic patterns while maintaining operational readiness and its ability to support the needs of passengers and airlines in terms of air connectivity, contributing to Jordan’s economy.
Commenting on the results, Nicolas Devillier, Chief Executive Officer of Airport International Group, said: “The September results reflect varying patterns across the aviation sector, with travel demand remaining resilient while aircraft movements and air cargo activity declined.
“Maintaining strong air connectivity and operational performance under these circumstances requires continued attention to the needs of passengers and airline partners. We remain focused on ensuring that Queen Alia International Airport can respond effectively to changes in demand while continuing to support tourism, trade and economic activity in Jordan.”
