The Polish military said in a post on the X platform that it had not yet confirmed any violation of Polish airspace. It said a ground-based search and rescue team had been deployed in southern Lublin and was continuing efforts to locate the possible crash site of the unidentified object.
The development comes amid growing security concerns in Eastern Europe linked to the Russia-Ukraine war and the risk of the conflict’s repercussions spreading to NATO member states, particularly Poland, which borders Ukraine and Belarus and is one of Kyiv’s key supporters in its confrontation with Moscow.
Poland has experienced previous incidents during the war involving falling missiles or unidentified flying objects detected near its airspace, prompting authorities to strengthen surveillance and air defense measures in anticipation of potential threats.
