AMMAN — The Chairman of the Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI), Fathi Al-Jaghbier, affirmed on Thursday that the industrial sector has achieved a tangible transformation across key indicators in recent years, including production, value addition, exports, and employment, alongside the expansion of its product range and geographic reach.

Speaking at a press conference organized by the JCI titled "Jordanian Industry: Four Years of Growth and Transformation," Al-Jaghbier stated that industrial value addition grew from approximately 8 billion JOD in 2020 to nearly 9.9 billion JOD in 2025, representing a growth rate exceeding 23%. Meanwhile, total industrial output increased from roughly 12 billion JOD to around 20 billion JOD.

He explained that industry directly contributes nearly 24% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and generated approximately 40% of overall economic growth during this period, in addition to its indirect impacts on transport, logistics, services, trade, energy, investment, and employment.

Export Growth and Market Expansion
Al-Jaghbier noted that industrial exports were one of the most prominent success stories of recent years, rising from approximately 4.7 billion JOD in 2020 to nearly 8.9 billion JOD in 2025—a growth rate exceeding 90%.

The Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) for industrial exports reached approximately 15% between 2021 and 2025, compared to around 3% from 2016 to 2020 and 2% from 2011 to 2015, reflecting a significant acceleration in export momentum.

This expansion was accompanied by clear diversification in products and destinations: the number of export commodities exceeding 1 million JOD in value rose from 455 in 2019 to 754 in 2025. Similarly, the number of foreign markets receiving over 1 million JOD in Jordanian exports grew from 72 to 93.

56,000 New Jobs Created
Al-Jaghbier emphasized that the most vital impact of this growth was on employment. Since 2022, the industrial sector has created nearly 56,000 new job opportunities, bringing the total industrial workforce to approximately 274,000 workers, representing roughly 21% of the Kingdom's total workforce.

In 2025 alone, the sector generated approximately 16,600 new industrial jobs, demonstrating a growth model that combines increased production and exports with sustainable employment creation.

Resilience Amid Exceptional Challenges
Al-Jaghbier stressed that these results are even more significant given the extraordinary global and regional challenges of recent years—ranging from the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war to the war on Gaza, regional tensions, rising energy and input costs, Red Sea shipping disruptions, and shifts in global trade.

Despite these headwinds, Jordanian industry maintained continuous production, export capacity, investment, and job creation, demonstrating remarkable sector resilience.

Unprecedented Royal Support
Al-Jaghbier highlighted that continuous Royal support was the leading catalyst behind this transformation, pointing to His Majesty King Abdullah II's field visits to factories, ongoing directives to support national production, and regular meetings with sector representatives.

He added that Royal economic diplomacy opened new horizons for Jordanian exports and investments, strengthened ties with international trading partners, and fostered strategic economic alliances.

Role of Industrial Chambers
Over recent years, industrial chambers intensified their advocacy, policy contribution, and representation of the sector's priorities, presenting data-driven solutions in continuous dialogue with the government.

This public-private partnership led to tangible policy outcomes, including the freezing and review of custom tariff restructuring steps to protect local production lines, a reduction in industrial electricity tariffs, the elimination of the fuel price variance fee, the cancellation of peak-hour tariffs, and the launch of projects to supply natural gas to industrial cities alongside a 100 MW renewable energy initiative.

Additionally, the price preference for national products in public procurement was raised from 15% to 20%, and investor incentives were incorporated into the Investment Environment Law.

Core of the Economic Modernization Vision
Al-Jaghbier noted that the Economic Modernization Vision firmly established industry as a key growth engine for the next decade, assigning nearly one-third of its employment and investment targets to the sector.

By the conclusion of the first executive program through 2025, the industrial sector achieved roughly 31% of its total value-addition target, 27% of its industrial export target, and 22% of its full-term employment target under the Vision.

Over 1,200 Companies Benefited from Support Programs
More than 1,200 industrial enterprises benefited from direct support and enablement programs in recent years, including the Industry Support and Development Fund and export acceleration initiatives.

Concluding his statement, Al-Jaghbier reiterated that current achievements lay a solid foundation for the future, aligned with His Majesty King Abdullah II's vision to position Jordan as a regional hub for industry and exports.
