Speaking during a press conference organized by the Jordan Chamber of Industry titled "Jordanian Industry: Four Years of Growth and Transformation," Al-Jaghbier noted that the trade deficit between Jordan and China stands at approximately $6 billion. He stressed the importance of working to narrow this deficit by increasing Jordanian exports to China.
Bilateral trade between Jordan and the People's Republic of China reached nearly $6.7 billion (4.75 billion JOD) last year. Economic relations between the two nations are entering a new phase with the state visit initiated by His Majesty King Abdullah II to China.
According to figures reviewed by Al Mamlaka and also released by the Jordan Strategy Forum, Chinese exports to Jordan reached approximately $6.29 billion (4.46 billion JOD), compared to Chinese imports from Jordan totaling just $0.43 billion (305 million JOD). This trade imbalance reflects a clear trade deficit favoring China by roughly $5.86 billion.
Al-Jaghbier added that the Royal visit will help open further opportunities for Jordanian industrial products to access the Chinese market, encourage exports, and enhance bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
He pointed out that His Majesty King Abdullah II is actively working to localize Chinese investments in Jordan, which will strengthen the Kingdom's industrial and productive base while generating new opportunities for the industrial sector and the national economy.
Al-Jaghbier emphasized that the industrial sector attaches great importance to the outcomes of the Royal visit, underlining the necessity of following up on all agreements reached, building upon them, and translating them into concrete investment and commercial projects.
He concluded that following the visit, continuous effort will be required to capitalize on its results, enhance the presence of Jordanian industry in the Chinese market, bolster the Kingdom's capacity to attract Chinese investments, and address the trade balance imbalance between the two countries.
