The institution’s Director General, Abdel Fattah Al-Shalabi, stated that improved wheat and barley seeds for the current season (2025–2026) are available at the Irbid and Madaba seed multiplication stations, as well as at the sales center in Karak Governorate. He noted that the price for a ton of cleaned and sterilized wheat seeds for farmers this year is JD 450 instead of JD 500, and JD 370 per ton for improved barley seeds instead of JD 420.

Al-Shalabi highlighted the Cabinet’s decision to reduce the price of improved wheat and barley seeds by JD 50 per ton compared to last year, emphasizing that this decision aims to support farmers and encourage them to cultivate their lands with wheat and barley, thereby contributing to the enhancement of food security.

While stressing the availability of improved seeds under optimal storage conditions that comply with international standards, Al-Shalabi urged farmers to purchase seeds from the cooperative’s sales centers and store them safely until the appropriate planting time to ensure high-quality production.

He added that the institution, in partnership with the National Center for Agricultural Research, has provided several varieties of improved wheat and barley seeds known for their high quality, abundant yield, drought resistance, and suitability for different regions of the Kingdom based on rainfall levels.

The seed multiplication project, implemented by the cooperative in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and the National Center for Agricultural Research, aims to enhance food security, encourage smallholders to utilize their lands, increase cultivated areas, create employment opportunities, and contribute to addressing poverty and unemployment.
