The Department of Statistics has issued its monthly report on the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which recorded a 1.97% increase during the first third of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.اضافة اعلان

On a monthly basis, the index rose by 1.83% in April 2025 compared to April 2024, and saw a slight increase of 0.09% (less than one percentage point) compared to March 2025.

Accordingly, the Consumer Price Index for the first third of 2025 reached 112.39, compared to 110.21 for the same period in 2024. On a monthly level, the CPI for April 2025 stood at 112.53, compared to 110.50 in April 2024, and 112.43 in March 2025.

When comparing the cumulative Consumer Price Index for the first third of 2025 with the same period in 2024, the index for "personal luggage" increased by 19.01%, "tobacco and cigarettes" by 12.65%, "tea, coffee, and cocoa" by 5.73%, "fruits and nuts" by 5.52%, and "spices, food enhancers, and other food items" by 5.38%.

In terms of commodity groups, the rise in the CPI for April 2025 compared to April 2024 was mainly driven by increases in "personal luggage" (21.94%), "fruits and nuts" (15.17%), "tobacco and cigarettes" (12.55%), "tea, coffee, and cocoa" (9.32%), and "spices, food enhancers, and other food items" (5.53%). Meanwhile, the increase was offset by declines in "household utensils" (3.04%), "furniture, carpets, and beddings" (2.71%), "vegetables, dried and canned legumes" (1.91%), and "fish and seafood products" (1.65%).

Among the main commodity groups that contributed to the CPI increase in April 2025 compared to March 2025 were: "fruits and nuts" (9.43%), "personal luggage" (5.68%), "tea, coffee, and cocoa" (4.73%), "vegetables, dried and canned legumes" (1.07%), and "home maintenance" (0.45%).
