The remarks came during a dialogue session hosted by the Jordan Economic Forum, which discussed Jordanian-Chinese economic relations, prospects for joint cooperation and the outcomes of the King’s recent visit to China. The session was attended by Forum Chairman Khair Abu Saileik and moderated by Senator Issa Murad, a board member of the Forum.
Guo stressed the two sides’ commitment to following up on the outcomes of the royal visit and continuing coordination and joint efforts to implement them.
He said China is ready to deepen coordination and communication with Jordanian entities seeking cooperation with Chinese companies, businesspeople and investors. He noted that he is holding consultations with relevant parties in both countries to facilitate work and accelerate the implementation of understandings reached between the two sides.
Guo said the King’s recent visit came at a particularly important time, as the strategic partnership between Jordan and China, established in 2015, enters its second decade. He also noted that next year will mark the golden jubilee of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which began in 1977.
He added that rapidly evolving regional and international developments gave the visit additional significance, both in supporting Jordan’s economic modernization efforts and strengthening strategic cooperation between the two countries. He stressed that geographical distance has not prevented close and deep relations between Jordan and China.
The ambassador said the King’s talks with Chinese leadership addressed a range of issues of mutual interest, particularly areas linked to the future of both countries. The discussions also demonstrated a shared commitment to greater alignment between China’s modernization priorities and Jordan’s Economic Modernisation Vision.
China, he said, is ready to share its expertise, experience and technologies with Jordan to help accelerate modernization and achieve the objectives set by the King since 2022. He highlighted the importance of supporting the second executive program of the Economic Modernisation Vision alongside other modernization tracks.
Guo noted that the joint statement issued at the conclusion of the royal visit outlined the broad framework for future cooperation between the two countries over the next decade, stressing the importance of making the most of the momentum generated by the visit.
He reviewed key stops on the King’s visit, including Shanghai, Shenzhen and Beijing, highlighting the economic and technological transformations witnessed by Chinese cities over recent decades and the opportunities their experiences offer for cooperation.
Guo said Shenzhen is China’s third-largest city by economic output, with a gross domestic product of around $500 billion in 2025. He highlighted its transformation over five decades from a fishing village into a modern city, noting that Jordan could benefit from its experience in developing a new, green and environmentally friendly city based on renewable energy.
Regarding the automotive sector, the ambassador said he is following up on reports of mechanical problems involving some Chinese vehicles that have suddenly stopped while in motion, stressing that efforts are underway to address the issue appropriately.
For his part, Abu Saileik said Jordanian-Chinese relations are based on mutual respect, adding that the approaching 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations provides an important opportunity to build on achievements and expand economic cooperation between the two countries.
He said the King’s recent visit represented a significant milestone in bilateral relations, noting that its itinerary—starting in Shanghai, followed by Shenzhen and concluding in Beijing—reflected the importance of the economic and technological dimensions and Jordan’s interest in benefiting from China’s experience. He also pointed to the signing of several memoranda of understanding during the visit.
Regarding the trade deficit, Abu Saileik said the priority should be to increase the added value of Chinese investments in Jordan, particularly in technology, while expanding cooperation and identifying additional areas for joint work.
Murad, who moderated the session, stressed the importance of translating the distinguished bilateral relations into tangible projects in Jordan. He called for greater involvement of major Chinese companies and for them to benefit from the agreements Jordan has entered into, while expanding cooperation across multiple economic sectors.
He said organized work has already begun in some areas, including transportation and automobiles, expressing hope that cooperation would extend to other sectors. He also raised the importance of activating the memorandum of understanding related to the Belt and Road Initiative and translating it into joint projects.
Murad highlighted the importance of cooperation in education and information technology, two areas emphasized by the King. He noted that Chinese is being taught at Jordanian schools and universities, including Mutah University, describing this as an important step toward strengthening communication between the two countries.
He said Jordan’s balanced relations with various countries provide a strong foundation for expanding cooperation with China. He also praised the ambassador’s efforts to develop bilateral relations, as well as his experience in the Arab region and proficiency in Arabic.
The session concluded with a discussion between attendees and the Chinese ambassador on ways to expand economic and investment cooperation, benefit from Chinese expertise in technology and infrastructure, translate the outcomes of the royal visit into joint projects, strengthen the presence of Chinese companies in Jordan and increase the added value of their investments.
