The total value of new credit facility applications submitted by the end of May 2026 increased by 14.6% compared with the same period last year, according to the latest data released by the Central Bank of Jordan.

The data show that the total value of newly requested credit facilities reached approximately JOD 6.724 billion through nearly 186,000 applications, compared with JOD 5.882 billion across about 170,000 applications during the same period in 2025.

According to the figures, the banking sector approved JOD 6.236 billion in new credit facilities through approximately 130,000 applications between the beginning of the year and the end of May. During the corresponding period last year, banks approved around JOD 4.105 billion through nearly 128,000 applications.

The statistics also indicate that banks operating in the local market rejected more than 55,000 new financing applications by the end of May, with a combined value of approximately JOD 488 million. This compares with rejected applications worth JOD 628 million during the same period in 2025, when nearly 42,000 applications were declined.

According to the Central Bank’s data, the “Other Sectors” category—which includes share purchases—received the highest level of financing during the first five months of the year, totaling JOD 8.829 billion. The construction sector ranked second, receiving approximately JOD 8.045 billion in financing over the same period.
