Director General of the Income and Sales Tax Department, Dr. Hussam Abu Ali, said that the National E-Invoicing System is a fundamental reform step in the process of developing fiscal and economic policy. He stressed that the system is not optional but rather a national and legislative necessity to regulate the economy, enhance tax fairness, and ensure transparency in financial transactions—making its implementation and oversight an obligation that cannot be ignored or bypassed under any pretext.اضافة اعلان

Speaking at a dialogue session on “The National E-Invoicing System: Concepts and Challenges” hosted by the Ahl Al-Rayah Association – Shawam Jordan in cooperation with Al-Fayhaa Association on Wednesday evening, Abu Ali noted that more than 140,000 taxpayers have registered in the system, reflecting the growing awareness in the private sector of its importance. He pointed out that the department’s website provides a feature to check all registered taxpayers.

Abu Ali confirmed that the invoicing system has proven its efficiency by issuing 1.2 million invoices daily, with an average processing time of only half a second—an indicator of the strength of the system’s infrastructure and the efficiency of the teams operating it.

He added that the system incorporates all aspects of security and information protection in line with global standards. It was piloted with several establishments and companies before its official launch. The system, he explained, is user-friendly, simple to operate, and compatible with the accounting systems used across different sectors, with the flexibility to adapt without requiring structural changes to existing systems.

On another front, Abu Ali said the department has become fully digital, offering over 65 electronic services to taxpayers, ranging from registration to tax refunds.

He further noted that the department has gone beyond digitizing services and has moved toward using artificial intelligence in tax auditing, which has improved auditing efficiency and enhanced detection of tax evasion cases.

A broad discussion followed between attendees and the Director General, during which representatives of various economic sectors raised questions on the mechanisms of applying the invoicing system, as well as issues related to tax fairness and ways to improve the legislative environment.

The dialogue was moderated by Hamza Al-Sabbagh, a member of the Jordanian Association of Certified Public Accountants, who presented the main topics related to the system’s implementation and objectives, stressing that direct dialogue with officials helps build trust between citizens and state institutions.

The session was attended by the association’s president, Haitham Obeid, Abdul Rahim Al-Buqai, several general assembly members, as well as representatives of economic sectors and legal experts.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the association’s president thanked Dr. Abu Ali, stressing that the gathering comes as part of the association’s role in promoting social awareness and entrenching transparency. The association also honored the Director General in recognition of his significant efforts in making the e-invoicing system a success and in raising tax awareness among taxpayers.
