The Department of Statistics issued its monthly report on the general index of agricultural producer prices, which recorded a 4.8% increase in producer prices during the first eight months of the current year compared to the same period in 2024. However, prices fell by 8.6% in August compared to August 2024 and by 3.5% compared to the previous month of the same year.

The cumulative index of agricultural producer prices for the first eight months of the year reached 115.3 points compared to 110.0 points for the same period in 2024. The index for August recorded 92.4 points compared to 101.1 points in August 2024, and 92.4 points compared to 95.8 points in July of the same year.
When comparing the first eight months of the current year with the same period in 2024, prices increased for several crops, most notably hot peppers, green bell peppers, and bananas, which together accounted for 35.8% of the relative importance. Meanwhile, prices declined for several crops, including potatoes, colored bell peppers, and eggplants, representing a relative importance of 64.2%.
On a monthly basis, the agricultural producer price index for August decreased compared to the same month in 2024, mainly due to falling prices of crops such as tomatoes, colored bell peppers, and figs, which accounted for 56.1% of the relative importance of crops with price declines. Conversely, prices rose for crops including white cabbage, grapefruit, and hot peppers, representing 43.9% of the relative importance of crops with price increases.
Comparing August with the previous month, prices fell for crops representing 55.8% of relative importance, including dates, guavas, and grapes, while prices increased for crops such as cauliflower, carrots, and zucchini, which together accounted for 44.2% of relative importance.
