Venezuelan Vice President and Oil Minister Delcy Rodríguez was officially sworn in on Monday as the country’s interim president, after President Nicolás Maduro appeared before a court in New York on drug-related charges, following his removal from power by the Trump administration in a military action earlier this week.اضافة اعلان

Rodríguez, a 56-year-old labor lawyer known for her close ties to the private sector and loyalty to the ruling party, took the oath of office before her brother Jorge Rodríguez, Speaker of the National Assembly.

Also sworn in on Monday were 283 lawmakers elected in May. Only a small number of them are classified as opposition members, as most opposition factions boycotted the elections, particularly the group led by Nobel laureate María Corina Machado.

The only lawmaker absent from the session was First Lady Cilia Flores, who is currently being held by the United States.
