According to a statement from the municipality, the works include permanently removing the traffic signal at the intersection, expanding the main roads and entrances leading to the junction, and improving sidewalks and surrounding infrastructure. These measures are expected to increase the road’s capacity and improve overall traffic movement.
The Director of Traffic Operations at the municipality, Engineer Shadi Al-Rawabdeh, explained that the traffic light at Queen Alia Intersection had been operating in “flasher” mode for some time while the site was continuously monitored and the traffic flow impact studied. This enabled the specialized teams to assess the situation and decide to remove the signal and carry out the necessary improvements.
The municipality emphasized that these actions align with its strategic vision to enhance the efficiency of the road network and improve traffic safety, in response to increased traffic volumes on Jordan Street.
Additionally, the municipality will provide all necessary public safety measures and traffic guidance at the work sites, with field teams from the Traffic Department present to organize vehicle movement and monitor any traffic impacts resulting from the works.
