Thousands attend funeral of slain PSD officer

AMMAN — Thousands of Jordanians attended Friday the funeral of slain Pubic Security officer Col. Abdul Razzaq Al-Dalabeh in the town of Kufeir in the Jerash Governorate.

Dalabeh was fatally shot in the Husseiniya area of Maan Governorate late Thursday during civil unrest in the area, local media outlets reported.

Dalabeh was the deputy chief of police in Maan Governorate.

In a statement, the Public Security Directorate asserted that it would continue to preserve national security and protect its citizens.

It added that it would hit “with an iron fist” anyone who attempts to harm lives, damage public properties, and threaten the security of Jordan and Jordanians.

The PSD added that it protects and guarantees the freedom of opinion and peaceful expression. However, it noted that it would enforce the law and use “appropriate force” to deal with riots and vandalism.
