AMMAN — The
 total public debt, which
includes the government's debt to the Social Security Investment Fund, has
reached JD40.080 billion by the end of July this year, constituting 114.6
percent of the 
Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

According to data from the 
Ministry of Finance, the 
government has borrowed JD1.591 billion dinars from the
beginning of this year until the end of July, Al Ghad reported. 
The total public debt at the end of
the previous year was JD38.489 billion. 
The data also indicates that the
public debt, excluding the debt to the Social 
Security Investment Fund, has
reached JD31.523 billion, accounting for 90.1 percent of the GDP.
Furthermore, the data shows that the
government has borrowed a total of JD8.558 billion from the 
Social Security Investment Fund by the end of July.
