PETRA — The most recognizable monument at Petra, the
Treasury on Wednesday was lit up in green to mark the first anniversary of
Cervical Cancer Elimination Day, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
On November 17, 2020, the WHO officially launched its global
strategy to accelerate the elimination of cervical cancer as a public health
problem within the coming ten year period from 2020 to 2030.
The lighting of the archeological site in Petra comes as
part of Jordan's interest in spreading awareness of this disease and combatting
cancer, in addition to scaling up the role of the local community in supporting
cancer patients.
